The 2024 Golden Globe Awards are set for Sunday, Jan. 7. It promises an exciting showcase of top movies and TV shows from the past year. Big hits like Succession lead with nine nominations in the TV category, while movies like Barbie and Oppenheimer aim for top honors in multiple categories.
A unique twist to the competition is seeing actors from the same projects compete against each other. Famous names like Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Martin Short, and Steve Martin are among those vying for the same awards as their fellow cast members at the event.
1: Mark Ruffalo & Willem Dafoe, ‘Poor Things’
Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe are familiar with the Golden Globe awards 2024 excitement. Both actors have been top contenders before. Ruffalo was nominated twice in 2015 for his roles in The Normal Heart and Foxcatcher, winning for I Know This Much Is True in 2021.
Dafoe isn’t new to this either, having had three nominations for his performances in Shadow of the Vampire, The Florida Project, and At Eternity’s Gate.
This year, both are up for the best supporting actor award in a movie for their work in Poor Things. They’re up against tough competition like Robert DeNiro (Killers of the Flower Moon), Ryan Gosling (Barbie), Charles Melton (May December), and Robert Downey Jr. (Oppenheimer).
