King Charles marked a significant moment in his recent health journey by attending the traditional Easter Mattins church service at Windsor this Sunday. Moreover, it is his first major outing since his cancer diagnosis last month.

Accompanied by King Charles III wife, Queen Camilla, the 75-year-old monarch appeared in good spirits as they arrived at St. George Chapel, located on the grounds of Windsor Castle. Moreover, this event, a longstanding tradition in the royal calendar, typically sees the extended royal family gathering at Windsor Castle before heading to church together.

King Charles Visiting The Church

As they walked to the chapel through the Galilee Porch, the British Royal Couple waved to well-wishers. King Charles warmly responded to a member of the public greeting of Happy Easter.

Anne Daley, among those waiting outside the chapel, expressed her support for the King and the Princess of Wales, both facing cancer diagnoses. She traveled from Cardiff to Windsor, noting the King cheerful demeanor and appreciation of the Welsh flag.

This year Easter celebration was more subdued, with fewer royals attending to minimize the King’s contact with others during his treatment. King Charles III and Queen sat apart from the main congregation during the service. Moreover, it is a precautionary measure echoing the late Queen Elizabeth II’s separate seating during Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021.

King Charles III and His Family Members

The King Charles siblings, including Prince Edward and Sophie, were among the first family members to arrive. These were Princess Anne and Prince Andrew with Sarah Ferguson After the service. Camilla received a bouquet, and the royal couple delighted well-wishers by engaging in a surprise walkabout, with King Charles stopping to chat and shake hands.

While it was uncertain whether the King would attend the usual post-service family lunch, he and Camilla were reportedly planning to take a break for Easter.

Despite his health challenges, King Charles remained actively engaged in state affairs, receiving ambassadors. Moreover, he met with climate and community leaders and maintained a steady involvement in governmental matters. Also, King Charles reassured the nation of his commitment to serving in a recorded message after Easter. Furthermore, he expressed his regret for not being able to attend the Royal Maundy service in person.

Notably absent from the Easter festivities were the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, who have been keeping a low profile since Kate’s cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment. The family’s return to public engagements is pending Kate’s medical clearance. Moreover, Prince William expected to resume his duties once their children had returned to school.
