Prince William and Kate, both 41, are gearing up for the year ahead, with lots of plans in the pipeline. But before they dive into their royal duties, they’ll be celebrating New Year’s with Kate’s family.

This includes catching up with her brother James Middleton’s new baby, Inigo. They’ll also be busy settling their children back into school. For George, a big step might be coming up: He might start boarding school, possibly at Eton College or Marlborough, which have ties to both William and Kate.

Looking forward, the couple has their sights set on international travel, with reports pointing to Rome, Italy, as their destination. While Kate didn’t travel abroad officially last year, William made trips to Poland and Singapore for various reasons.

Their focus in the new year remains on their ongoing initiatives: William’s Homewards program, fighting homelessness, and Kate’s “Shaping Us” program, supporting early childhood development. William will also be promoting the fourth year of his Earthshot Prize.

A source from the palace notes, “They’re very supportive of each other’s work. William is proud of Kate’s work in early years, and she admires what William has achieved with Homewards and Earthshot.”

They’ll also continue their support for King Charles and Queen Camilla, both at home and abroad. Their involvement was evident during events like welcoming the South Korean president and hosting the diplomatic corps at Buckingham Palace. Kate shone at the palace event, wearing the Lover’s Knot tiara in the state rooms.

“She recognizes the family’s crucial role in fostering global relationships for the U.K.,” a royal insider remarks.

Kate’s focus on her “Shaping Us” initiative will pivot toward how businesses can assist families with young children. Launched earlier this year, her business task force will receive heightened attention in early 2024. Although Shaping Us started almost a year ago, it had been a concept brewing for about a decade, according to Kate’s team.

“She delved into the subject diligently, taking ample time to grasp it and strategize on elevating early years awareness across society,” the source elaborates. “This commitment will carry her through 2024, continuously championing this cause well into the future.”

While the couple operates in distinct spheres, as stated by their palace spokesperson, their joint appearances, such as their visit for World Mental Health Day in Birmingham and regular trips to Wales, hold substantial significance.

These outings, alongside official engagements with the King and Queen, are likely fixtures on their calendar. Additionally, the potential inclusion of Prince George’s godfather, the Duke of Westminster’s wedding in June, may also be on their agenda.
